Equalitas’ ITE Director, Tracey Maloney, has been appointed to the newly established Curriculum Taskforce Advisory Committee (TAC) in Northern Ireland.
The Committee, announced this week by Education Minister Paul Givan, brings together a distinguished group of national and international education leaders to guide an ambitious programme of curriculum reform. It will oversee the development of a new statutory curriculum framework designed to be coherent, cumulative, challenging, and knowledge-rich.
Speaking about the appointment, Minister Givan noted:
“This Committee includes a wealth of experience of curriculum design, classroom practice, evaluation and implementation. The expertise and vision of this group will be crucial in delivering an ambitious, rigorous and knowledge-rich curriculum that raises standards and supports all learners to thrive.”
As ITE Director at Equalitas, Tracey (pictured) leads subject-specific teacher training and education programmes, ensuring trainees are grounded in evidence-informed practice and high expectations for curriculum and pedagogy. Her involvement in the Taskforce reflects both her individual expertise and the wider Equalitas commitment to ambitious, rigorous and transformative teacher development.
The Curriculum Taskforce will also be supported by subject working groups made up of local teachers and specialists, ensuring that the new framework reflects both international research and local classroom realities. The new statutory curriculum is expected to be ready by September 2026, with implementation from September 2027.
Tracey’s appointment recognises the crucial role of teacher education in shaping future curriculum reform, and Equalitas looks forward to contributing to this important work.
